Dr. Michael Layton, DMD
Dr. Layton was born in Alabama and grew up in Orlando. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and his DMD degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1987. He opened Lakeshore Dental Care in 1989.
He loves the art and science involved in dentistry and regularly improves his skills and knowledge through continuing education.
Dr. Layton enjoys spending time with his family and pets, likes landscaping and participates in High Performance Driving events on road courses in the Southeast.
Dr. Mike Perna
Dr. Perna recently moved to Florida with his wife as she completes her medical residency (and to get away from snowy winters!) He brought his fluffy Samoyed puppy, who is aspiring to become a dental office therapy dog.
Dr. Perna grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and wanted to become a medical professional at a young age. He comes from a dental family and followed in his father’s
footsteps as a dentist.
Serena, RDH
Raised in Key West, FL, Serena completed her dental hygiene training at Daytona State College. She establishes an environment of genuine care and trust with all of our patients. She is recognized by patients for her caring attitude, attention to detail, and gentle touch.
When she isn’t at work Serena enjoys traveling with her family.
Tammy, EFDA
Tammy is originally from Michigan. She completed her dental training in Orlando in 1991. She enjoys getting to know her patients as individuals and provides comforting care during their treatment. In her free time, she enjoys creating fused glass art and spending time with her family.
Shannon
Shannon is originally from Alabama and started her dental career in 1994 and also completed her certification at the University of Florida. Shannon has an outstanding chairside manner and is full of knowledge. In her free time, she goes to concerts and hangs out with her husband and their two beautiful toy poodles.
Ginger
A native Floridian, Ginger has more than 30 years of experience in the dental field. Her clinical experience as a dental assistant and administrative skills keep our busy office personalized to meet the individual needs of our patients. Ginger enjoys gardening, her chickens, and loving her grandchildren.
Heather, Office Manager
Originally joining the office as a high school intern, Heather is now a seasoned veteran. Heather’s friendly personality helps patients feel welcomed and accommodated. Heather keeps close tabs on the office to make sure everything is running smoothly. Patients love her friendly personality, and Heather loves interacting with them.
Heather stays busy in her free time with her husband, two children, 50 chickens, and her position on the Miss Rodeo Florida and Silver Spurs pageant committees.
Zobida (Zo)
A native of Trinidad, Zo has over 20 years of experience in the dental field. She works extremely hard on our patients’ behalf in regards to finances, insurance, and scheduling. She is passionate about helping patients get the care that they need. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and visiting her family in Trinidad.
Alfie
Alfie (“Silkspun’s What’s It All About Alfie”) is an English distinction Golden Retriever. He makes it his mission to ensure that our patients are welcomed with affection and comforted if anxious. Alfie brightens everyone’s day!
In his spare time, he spends time with the family, enthusiastically retrieves tennis balls on land and water, and enjoys daily napping.
Alexa
Alexa is originally from Winter Park and began her dental career here at our office in 2023. Alexa’s smiling face is the first to greet our patients at our front desk. She is friendly, a great communicator, and enjoys serving our patients. In her spare time, she can be found with her family and dog at the beach, gym, or traveling.
Chyanna
Originally from Saint Cloud, Chyanna began her dental career in 2023 by becoming EFDA certified at the Dental Assisting Academy of Central Florida . Chyanna has a bubbly and friendly personality that our patients appreciate. In her free time Chyanna is a cheer coach for Saint Cloud Youth Football. She is family oriented and likes spending time with her husband & daughter.
Michelle
Michelle is originally from Michigan and went to school in New York City at New York City College of Technology, graduating in 2004. Michelle came to our office in 2020. She is great at connecting with her patients and has built many special relationships with them. Her patients appreciate her fun-loving personality. When she’s not at work, Michelle can be found paddle boarding, walking her dogs, or spending time with her granddaughter.
Emily
Emily is from Saint Cloud and graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2015. She began her dental career here at Lakeshore Dental Care in 2020 working at the front desk. She moved to the back as our Sterilization Technician and then became EFDA certified in 2024 at the Academy for Dental Assistants in St. Petersburg. When she’s not working, Emily is with her two children: riding horses, swimming or at the beach shelling.
Barb
Barb is originally from Pinnellas County and began her dental career in 1971 in a pediatric office. Barb has a gentle personality and is always willing to help our patients at the front desk. When she’s not working, Barb likes spending time with her children, granddaughter, and husband. They enjoy boating or spending time at the beach.
