Our Preventative Services
Most of our new patients start their journey at our local dental practice by coming in for a consultation where they can meet our staff and have a tour of the building or receive an initial exam and cleaning. In addition to these two standardized preventative treatments, we are also happy to offer the following:
- Bridges
- Crowns
- Tooth-colored fillings
- Fluoride
- X-rays
- Dental implants to fill in gaps
Furthermore, we are happy to provide emergency care. Please come to us any time you experience painful gums, swelling, a sport or auto accident, or toothaches so that we can schedule a dental appointment. Remedying these problems right away will prevent them from becoming worse.
Looking Closer: Our Exams and Cleanings
1. Dental Exams
During an oral evaluation, one of our dentists in Saint Cloud will carefully inspect your teeth, gums, any restorations, and surrounding structures such as your cheeks and tongue for signs of wear, infection, cracks, decay, or gum disease. Together, we will review your medical background and discuss your hygiene habits at home between appointments. X-rays and an oral cancer screening are performed as needed to assess your jawbone, tooth roots, and sinuses.
Overall, a dental exam may only take around 5 to 10 minutes. Typically, it is combined with a cleaning.
2. Dental Cleanings
Everyone is different, and your dental health needs can change throughout your lifetime. Here at Lakeshore Dental Care, we suggest scheduling treatments according to those very needs. For young patients or those with excellent oral health, that might mean two dental cleanings per year. For others with a history of gum disease, it might mean three to four visits per year. Let us know if you’d like to discuss the ideal treatment plan to keep your smile looking and feeling its best.
A cleaning is conducted by our skilled dental hygienists. They will begin by gently and thoroughly scaling your teeth to clear plaque and tartar. Next, your smile will be brushed and flossed your teeth, a process that helps scrub away stains and get rid of any lingering debris. After a quick spit and rinse, you’ll be provided fluoride, a natural mineral that keeps your teeth strong against cavities.
